Handicraft production in Vietnam is mainly based on a system of 2,556 craft villages across the country. Craft villages have created jobs for about 5.2 million rural workers. Although the handicraft industry has a low export turnover compared to many other export items, but handicrafts bring the country a source of foreign currency with a high proportion of export turnover.

Due to the fact that the production and export of handicrafts mostly exploit local raw materials and hardly depend on imported materials (estimated to account for only 3-3.5% of export value), it belongs to the source of goods. It is also an industry with high conditions for development in many regions and regions, contributing to the transformation of labor and economic structures in these places. In addition, many fashion items and gifts have been exported on the spot through serving the shopping needs of foreign visitors to Vietnam (currently accounting for about 15% of total spending – about 15 USD/pax). . However, Vietnam’s local export market has not been strategically focused in recent times.
